UNIFAGOC’s Medicine Program Achieves HIGHEST SCORE in MEC’s CPC and Projects the City of Ubá onto the National Stage

The achievement of the maximum score (5) in the Preliminary Course Concept (CPC) by the Ministry of Education (MEC), obtained by UNIFAGOC’s Medicine program last Friday (June 11), went far beyond the Institution’s walls and the borders of the Zona da Mata region in Minas Gerais.
The excellence validated by MEC’s top quality indicator echoed throughout the country, gaining prominence in national high-audience media outlets such as Estado de Minas, Estadão, Tempo, SBT News, R7 Portal, CNN Brasil, Balanço Geral, Diário do Pará, Diário de Goiás, Voz da Bahia, and many others.
As a result, Ubá and the Centro Universitário UNIFAGOC were nationally recognized as references in higher education, especially in the Health area. This historic achievement reinforces UNIFAGOC’s position as one of the leading institutions of higher education in Brazil and consolidates its Medicine program as one of the most qualified in the country.
UNPRECEDENTED RECOGNITION
According to data released by the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), only six Medicine programs across Brazil achieved the highest CPC score in the 2023 evaluation cycle. UNIFAGOC is among them — and the only one in Minas Gerais to reach this level. It also ranked 5th in MEC’s national ranking, ahead of Famerp (Faculty of Medicine of São José do Rio Preto), located in the state of São Paulo and the only public institution on the list. No federal university from Minas Gerais or the country appears in the ranking.
This remarkable feat caught the attention of the national press, which highlighted the result as evidence of high-quality education offered in the interior of Minas Gerais. Public recognition proves that it is possible to provide excellent education even outside major urban centers, with cutting-edge infrastructure, a highly qualified faculty, and a modern pedagogical approach.

In addition to the CPC 5 in Medicine, all other programs evaluated by the Institution achieved a CPC 4 — a performance considered highly satisfactory. UNIFAGOC also holds maximum scores in all course recognition visits by MEC, as well as in its most recent institutional re-accreditation.
