Among more than 300 programs evaluated across the country, only six achieved the top score. UNIFAGOC is the only institution in Minas Gerais — public or private — to reach this milestone.

The Medicine program at UNIFAGOC has just earned one of the most prestigious recognitions in Brazilian higher education: the HIGHEST SCORE (5) in the Preliminary Course Concept (CPC), the main quality indicator from the Ministry of Education (MEC).

The result, released on Friday, the 11th, by the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), places UNIFAGOC among the six best Medicine programs in Brazil — and the only one in Minas Gerais to reach this level of excellence.

In total, 309 Medicine programs were evaluated across the country. Achieving the highest CPC score is a milestone reached by very few institutions and reflects a combination of academic excellence, cutting-edge infrastructure, and a strong commitment to humanized, comprehensive medical training.

Among the other programs that also received a CPC 5 are prestigious institutions such as Santa Casa Medical School of São Paulo, Albert Einstein Jewish Medical School, and Famerp, in São José do Rio Preto. No federal university from Minas Gerais appeared on the list.

RECOGNITION THAT REFLECTS EXCELLENCE

The CPC evaluates key aspects of a program’s quality, including:

  • Student performance in the ENADE exam

  • Value added to the students’ academic journey (IDD)

  • Faculty qualifications and employment arrangements

  • Infrastructure and students’ perception of the program

Using a rigorous methodology, final scores range from 1 to 5, with scores 1 and 2 considered unsatisfactory. A score of 5 represents not only excellence at a moment in time, but the consolidation of a solid, well-structured educational project aligned with the best practices in higher education.

A LANDMARK FOR UNIFAGOC AND FOR MINAS GERAIS

For UNIFAGOC, this result marks a historic chapter:

This achievement is the result of collective work guided by quality, dedication, and a commitment to excellence in medical education. It’s a source of pride for our entire academic community and for the city of Ubá, home to what the Ministry of Education now recognizes as the best Medicine program in Minas Gerais and one of the top six in Brazil”, says Vice-Rector Leonardo Rodrigues Belo Couto.

For UNIFAGOC’s Rector, Dr. Ricardo Belo Couto, this recognition reflects an innovative pedagogical project, excellent infrastructure, a highly qualified faculty, and above all, the protagonism of our students, who are at the heart of everything we do.

More than just recognition, this score brings with it a great responsibility: to continue offering top-level medical training, grounded in ethics, humanization, and a commitment to transforming society”, concludes the Rector.

The top CPC score further strengthens UNIFAGOC’s reputation as a national reference in higher education — combining modern infrastructure, a highly qualified teaching staff, and an innovative academic approach. See another achievement by the Medicine program HERE.

NATIONAL MEDIA RECOGNITION

The recognition of UNIFAGOC’s Medicine program gained national media coverage. In a report published by G1, UNIFAGOC appears in the exclusive list of six higher education institutions in Brazil to achieve the maximum score (5) in the CPC — among over 300 Medicine programs evaluated in 2023.
